J. H. S. in l950. Even though their freshman and sophomore years were comparatively uneventful, they did select their class flower and class colors. Chosen as the class flower was the yellow tea rose and selected for the class colors were green and white. Now they are in one of their most important school years. This is the time when their energy is being devoted to raising money for their iunior and senior activities. The responsibility of leadership was placed upon the following: President-Richard Goodman, Vice-President-Edward Morgan, Secretary- James McNaul, Treasurer-Richard Wright. The Juniors have already held a very successful dance entitled Prevue for '52 and their stationery campaign has proved them capable business men and womem We, the Seniors, have been in daily association with these Juniors and we couldn't wish for a nicer group of classmates. We thank the Juniors for their support of our class projects and wish them all success in the future. A. and is made up of girls belonging to the junior and senior classes. Regular meetings are held twice a month under the supervision of faculty member Mrs. Jean Keiser. As a Christmas proiect the members con- tributed food, usable clothing, and toys, which were assembled and then presented as an ex- pression of best wishes to a needy family. To faster friendship and activities among the stu- dent body, the girls sponsored two dances which were held in the gymnasium after basketball games. The Tri-Hi-Y held its induction services early in the school terms with a candle-light ceremony at the Teen-Age Center. The officers inducted were: President, Mimi Wright, Vice-President, Suzanne Moore, Secretary, Nancy McFadden, Treasurer, Viola Wood. After the ceremony a dance was held and a light lunch was served to the girls. Soon after the stall: organized under the capable direc- tion of Mrs. Betty Bonsall assisted by Miss E-ther Dickey. Advice on the artistic development of the book was given by Mr. Byron Chadderdon. The staff selected as their editor-in'chief Lillian Wright and as assistant editor Gretchen McCarl. Immediately the group selected the cover for the yearbook and also decided on the type of print to be used. The theme was chosen and contracts were signed with Zimmerman Engraving Com- pany of Sykesville and Kurtz Bros. Printers of Clearfield. A representative from Kurtz Bros. as- sisted the stat? by giving them an idea ot the work needed to publish a successful book. At this time a deadline was set for our publication. Mr. Leslie Leach and Mr. Carl Bordas were very co- operative in taking the desired pictures. Peter Greslick began his training as student photog- rapher under the direction of Mr. Bordas. Almost without exception the staft met faith- fully every Tuesday night to discuss plans forthe coming weeks. They usually found some occa- sion to combine business with pleasure. The girls held all-night parties to work on the blurbs for the seniors and all the members of the staff and the advisor were entertained at the home of the assistant editor. All members of the staff profited by their experience as publishers of a yearbook. They learned not only how to crop and cut pictures, but also how to mount the pictures in panels for each page. Every member took his turn writing and correcting copy which is a necessary step in the production of any annual. The staff extends its many thanks to all who gave of their time and service to help put out the thirty-first edition of the Curwensville Joint High School Echo. Briggs. The Business StaFf was also se- lected by ballot but any senior to be eligible had to have been a successful salesman during the senior magazine campaign. Barbara Ann Bow- ers was elected by vote ofthe staff to direct this group in its activities. After the staff was briefed on its duties in financing The Echo, they began to solicit the busi- ness concerns in Clearfield and Curwensville. Several afternoons were selected for them to cover their districts in Clearfield. While soliciting' that town, the staff worked in groups of two, but the Curwensville concerns were contacted by in- dividuals. The list of patrons was finally com- pleted in February. Immediately, the staff began distributing cards to the seniors, who were asked to get orders from their relatives and immediate families. At the same time Echo sales began in all junior and senior high homerooms. This being completed, the townspeople were visited and orders for the remaining copies were taken. The Business Staff wishes to thank all who contributed to the Echo fund, making the publi- cation of this book possible. lanice Catino and Nancy McFadden were selected to be the typists for the yearbook. The Editorial Staff thanks these girls for their cooperation. - '-Q 1, Y' px .. ND golf :K I , i' lc 1 on ', nk ? 1: ' sis' N. ,,'- fu- 'fy-J' -' .
