Music Our instrumental music director at Curtis is Mr. Danders, who dir- ects the orchestra, symphonic, concert :uid stage bands along with a percussion ensemble of eighth graders. The students taking vocal music are divided among three teachers, Mr. Clemnients, Mr. Craven, and Mr. Jones. These classes take part in the city-wide festival and secondary festival. KELTNER, mm Jo MINTER, KAREN Home Economics At Curtis junior High we are striving toward educating girls to become well prepared future homemakers, as well as becoming well-poised young ladies in our society. Consumer education is being stressed in all areas of Home Economics. Which is no longer strictly Foods Preparation and Clothing. Mrs. Ke1tner's Ninth Grade l-lomemaking Class. Physical Education Coaches Wilhelm and Schepis teach the boys' physical education classes. The general objective of the class is to con- tribute to the complete health of the student. Daily calisthenics help in the boys training to be in good physical con- dition. Miss Scott and Miss Groves teach the girls' physical education classes at Cur- tis, They help the girls in leaming game rules, good sportsmanship, and teamwork. The main objectives of the course are to promote good social behavior and to develop good physical skills. They help the students make a satisfactory adjustment to the world around them, and also teach the basic skills.
