, f lqfllpe When we analyze history, we tend to disparage the of our ancestors. When we consider that one day people will amused by our civilization when it too becomes antiquated, we stop to ask ourselves, How important is progress in the field of art? One might answer, Just as the wheel made the automobile possible, so cave wall paintings became modern art. There is little difference between primitive art and our modern impressionistic work. During the Renaissance, art reached a degree of perfection which today is rarely equaled and was much appreciated by the majority of the people. This does not mean that today art is not important.
