.1 fe'-fs, l'l:x rx- 53 pl 57 an to .Q - 1 ri OX AS ILL ANDIESTAME T CLASS GF JUNE 1940 WE, memhers of the Class of .lune 1940, heing of sound and disposing mind and memory and mindful of the uncertainties of human life, do herehy malce, puhlish and declare this to he our last will and testament. First, that part of our interest which is lcnown among men and recognized in the sheep-hound volumes of the law as our property, heing inconsiderahle and of no account, we malce no account of in this our will. Second, all the rest, residue, and remainder of our worldly attairs we now proceed to give, divide, and loequeath as follows: To the classes of .lune and ,lanuary 1942 we leave the opportunity and genuine pleasure of liclcing the Odds, twice a year, also Junior Prom as successful as ours. To the class of 1941-and may the Lord have mercy on their souls-the slim chance of winning a C.O. election. To the class of 1944 a chance to carry on Where the 42,5 leave oft. To the class of 1943 we solemnly hequeath the remnants of the party. To hoth Qdds and Evens of the future, we leave the faint possihility and hope and the dehnite challenge to produce another Baldy Snoolcs, another horse, another Lone Ranger, to find the Wizard of Cz, and to recreate a new Roman Civilization. To the student hody as a whole, the prohlern of student self-government. Where? When? How? To our worthy Principal, we leave a hetter school now that we are gone. To' Miss Handy, our thanlcs for everything and our forgiveness for the same. To Dr. Tracy, our initials on the deslcs. To Mr. Morris, more and more plausihle excuses. To all our heloved teachers, collectively, we leave their old headaches and an Allca Seltzer for the new ones. To Miss Walthall, the prospect of starting another Freshman class. To Miss Raethle, the thought lt worft he long nowf' To all the heads of the Departments, more hoolas, and fewer revolutionary ideas. To the following in particular: To Miss Pratt, more and hetter Latin students and a little less of that common malady fSenioritisJ in her Latin 8's. To Miss Meade, more and more programs, and many more soul-stirring dehates in history Hfull of sound and fury, signifying nothingf, Mr. Hoolv-we leave to you another chance to prove to an unsuspecting class that 2 equals 1. To the HLogn and HCorsairU stalts we leave our hopes for more championship issues. To the '41 haslqethall team a perfect example of how it should he done. To the ,41 footloall team a great season, and another cracl: at Manchester. And in conclusion: to Curtis High School we leave the memory of a class that came, saw, and conquered, and, to put it modestly, leaves a perfect example of what a class should he lilce. 1 ln witness whereof, the Class of June 1940 has caused this to he signed, and its ollicial seal to he atlixed, this the First day of June, nineteen hundred and forty. 88
