AST ILL AND TESTAMENT CLASS OF JANUARY 1940 AFTER having ascertained that our faculties ot concentration are in perfect condition, We, the Class of January 1940, upon realizing that the time has come when We must retuctantty teave these halts of toit and tears, do herewith determine to matte immortat our imprints on the sands ot time, hy drawing up our tast Witt and testament. PART ONE Section One: To the Engtish Department We impart those nonsensicatty phrased, incoherentty constructed manuscripts commonly referred to, by students, as essays. Section Two: To the Latin Department we impart the general confession that we did not grasp what it was att about, hut we were gtad when it was over. Section Three: To the Mattiematics Department we confer the privilege of treasur- ing att our misplaced decimal points, unsotved trigonometry prohtems, and unsquared circles. PART TWO Section Une: To Miss Dorothy A. Spear we wish to extend our sincerest hope that in years to come she Witt he permitted to use Feldman Halt as the Yearhootc ottice. Section Two: To Miss Helena F. Heuermann we teave, in addition to heart-fett gratitude, the memory of our htisstutty expressiontess countenances, and the opportunity to devote more time to the perfection of the theory of relaxation. Section Three: To Mrs. Heten S. Graves we bequeath a bigger and better briefcase. Section Four: To Miss Ripley and Wir. Gaffney, we teave a new centrat heating system for the poot to he used for the first period. PART THREE Section One: Ctass ot 1941-To you, our successors, we bequeath the Regents- studded Crown of Seniors, adorned with woefut hours ot worriment, endless nights with- out steep and dreary week-ends of drudgery. Section Two: Ctass of 19-12-To you, jovial juniors, we hequeath the congested halts and the prohtem of ctearing them. Section Three: Class of 1943-To you, sprightty sophomores, We leave portahte ladders which Witt hetp you scale the heights to the door handtes. 81
