R TOM STERBICK, Senior STEVE ANDERSON, Senior BRAD BARRETT, Senior TOM DAVIDSON, Senior Guard Tackle Linebacker Halfback All-Seamount All-Seamount All-Seamount Honorable Mention Tackle Award Co-Captain Football at Curtis has enjoyed fantastic success in recent years. This years team was no exception as the Vikings won the tough Seamount League title for the third consecutive year. More important the Vikings were rated state cham- pions for the second time in the last three seasons. Under the tutorship of great coaches the Curtis contingent ram- paged through their schedule undeafeated running their win streak to 28 straight games Ccurrently the longest in the statei. The level of proficiency at which this Curtis team played can be revealed through some amazing statistics. As a team the Vikings set a total of 20 school records for a game. Among these records were: Most points f63J, Most yards rushing 14030, Most total plays C807 and Most total yards C5961 For the entire year the Vikings set some 55 school records. Some of these included: Most points at 347 Calso a league record MIKE FABEBT, Senior CLAY ANGLE, Senior Halfback Quarterback All-Seamount All-Seamount Inspirational Award Co-Captain 3265, Most touchdowns C50D, Most total yards C3670D, Most pass interceptions 1221, Most shutouts in a row 433, but, most important most victories in a season 1105. Included in all the records set were four league marks established by the Viks. The Vikings were blessed by a magnificent defense which limited opponents to a mere 68 points for the entire season. Led by linebackers Rob Dyer, Bob Nicodemus, jamie Marsh, and All-Seamount Brad Barrett the hard-hitting Vikings shutout Bethel, Mt. Si, and Tahoma in the final three games. Barrett and Dyer shared the coveted Tackle Award given at the end of each year to the player leading the team in tackle points. In front of them played an excellent defensive line consisting of Craig Herron, All-Seamount Steve Raby, Rick Shaffer, Chuck Guthrie, Dan Williams, Greg Dravis, and Bryan Grassi. XTR' MIKE MAYS,-IUDIOF MIKE LEVENSELLER, Junior STEVE RABY, Junior JIM SCOLA,-IUDIOT Center Flankerback Def. Tackle Guard All-Seamount All-Seamount All-Seamount Rounding out the defensive unit was the Viking secondary that consisted of All-Seamount Mike Levenseller, Tom Davidson, jeff Larsen, Scott Swanson and Pete Steere. These players were largely responsible for the record 22 pass in- terceptions Ied by Levenselleris 8 and Barrettis 7. The Viks offense was also extremely effective as the line consistently opened gigantic holes. Members of the interor line included Damon Mattison, Scott Cairns, jim Scola, All- Seamount Mike Mays, All-Seamount Tom Sterbick, and sec- ond year AII-Seamount Steve Anderson. Ends Pat Swesey, ,Dick Granlund and flanker Mike Levenseller made up a gstrong receiving corps. Behind this strong line operated an iefficient backfield including All-Seamount Mike Fabert, lBob Nicodemus, Tom Davidson, jeff Larsen and All-Sea- fmount Clay Angle. 1 As mentioned before many team marks were established, however, several individuals set school records as well. Mike DAN WILLIAMS, junior CHUCK CUTHRIE, junior Fabert closed out his Viking career as the most prolific rusher in Curtis history. Mike broke I1 school records including: Most career yards rushing 117431, Most yards rushing sea- son 11438J and longest career average per carry 16.51. Mike also ended up second on the alltime total offense list at Cur- tis with 1760 yards. Clay Angle broke 13 school records in becoming the number one passer in Curtis history. His re- cords include: Most career yards passing 115271 Most TD passes season 1151 and most first down passes season 1411. Clay finished third in the total offense list with 1637 yards. In the receiving department Pat Swesey broke 5 school re- cords including: Most receptions in a game 161, Most first down receptions in a season 1I7Dand longest average for more than 15 receptions in a season 113.61 Tom Davidson had some amazing statistics although only catching four passes but, all were for touchdowns and an average of 45.2 yards per catch.
