German Club German Club, under the leadership of Esther Caprez, led a very active club life this year. They started out the year with three car washes to raise money. For the various seasons of the year they had an Oktoberfest, Went Christmas Carolling in German, and had a Christmas party featuring German games and food. They also had their annual Bavarian dinner. Under the guidance of Mrs. MacPherson, members carried out many unusual and entertaining events. Among these were included the trip to the University of Washington and the proposed two Week back pack trip through the Cascades. Their annual licorice sale satisfied many a hungry Curtis student. 90

Valhalla Co-editors Nancy Nelson and janis Beattie discuss some pictures for a section of the Valhalla. A hard-working, willing staff, a patient, helpful advisor, and long hours after school and on week-ends were the basic elements of this year's Valhalla. Pictures were ordered, lay- outs planned, and captions typed. Then came the fun of trimming, cutting and glueing. An over-all goal of the book was better, more attractive layouts and more copy when appropriate. Both the photographers and staff members strived for a greater amount of candid action shots. Section heads included Janice Bullard, Student Life, Tove Spartveit, Academicsg Janelle Skach, Activities, and Dick Munson, Athletics. All mem- bers assisted in putting together the Senior and Underclassmen sections. Valhalla photographers were jim Doty, Marty Lindal, and jack Anderson, and the advisor, Mr. Bob Rubens. First Row: J.
