Pep Club has been more selective in choosing it's members than it has in the past The year began with over two hundred members but after the second semester and a seventy-five member cut, the club's number slightly exceeded one hundred. The officers have found that quality is better than quantity. The club has been active in scheduling rooter buses to away games, painting pre-game signs, selling programs, and making lunches for the athletes. One of their bigger projects this year was to raise money to purchase new jackets for the coaches. A hard-working, willing staff, a patient, helpful advisor, and long hours after school and on week-ends were the basic elements of this year's Valhalla. Pictures were ordered, lay- outs planned, and captions typed. Then came the fun of trimming, cutting and glueing. An over-all goal of the book was better, more attractive layouts and more copy when appropriate. Both the photographers and staff members strived for a greater amount of candid action shots. Section heads included Janice Bullard, Student Life, Tove Spartveit, Academicsg Janelle Skach, Activities, and Dick Munson, Athletics. All mem- bers assisted in putting together the Senior and Underclassmen sections. Valhalla photographers were jim Doty, Marty Lindal, and jack Anderson, and the advisor, Mr. Bob Rubens. First Row: J. The Symphonic Band got off to a nervous start eagerly awaiting the arrival of Mr. Kloeppel's baby daughter, Gretchen. Despite this delay the band showed their great playing ability time after time during the year. The band hosted the annual festival and it was quite evident that the Curtis Band was number one. It was a great year for a very talented group of performers. 95 After cold and early mornings of practice, the Curtis Marching Band presented half time show at the last home football game of the season. Marching Band Equipped with both baton and whistle, Drum Major jerry Wakefield led the band which proved to be a great success. Pep Band Dressed in striped vests and crazy hats, the Pep Band wx hich played at each home basketball game was a great addition to school spirit. The band marches off only to return next football season. Stage Ban d First Row: J. Porter, K. Parker, B. Myrvang, B.Doty, D. Ohls, G. Dean. Second Row: B. Lean, D. Ohls, G. Gilchrist, J. Day J.
