ENS WEIS AND RM2 JEFF JUGAR ASSISTED IN SPREADING THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT THROUGHOUT THE SHIP. o CURRENT ' S CHRISTMAS POEM ' TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, WHEN ALL THROUGH THE SHIP IT WAS COLD AS THE DICKONS FOR THE BOILERS HAD QUIT THE CHRISTMAS TRE S WERE WELDED TO THE DECK WITH CARE, IN HOPES THAT HEAVY SWELLS WOULD LEAVE THEM THERE. THE CIC WATCHES WERE ALL SMUG IN THEIR PAD, FOR VIRIONS OF CONTACTS WERE NOT TO BE HAD, AND DOC IN HIS GARMENTS AND I IN MY RACK, HAD JUST SETTLED OUR BRAINS FOR A LONG WINTER ' S NAP WHEN OUT ON THfe MESS DECKS THERE AROSE SUCH A CLATTER I ROLLED FROM MY PAD AND FELL DOWN THE LADDER, AWAY TO THE MESS DECKS I FLEW LIKE A FLASH, TORE UP THE LADDER AND THREW OPEN THE HATCH IT WAS THAT DIVER FOX, SO L IVELY AND QUICK, I KNEW IN A MOMENT IT MUST BE ST. THE CREW COULD BE FOUND ON THE FERRY TO SEATTLE OR IN BREMERTON IN PLACES WITH NAMES LIKE THE CROW ' S NEST, THE OUTSIDE INN, OR RENDEZVOUS, WE HAD THREE DAYS LIBERTY AND WE MADE THE BEST OF IT. THE APL WAS NOW READY AND WE BEGAN MAKING PREPARATIONS FOR GETTING UNDERWAY. A SELECT GROUP OF CHRISTMAS TREE REPRESENTATIVES WERE SENT INTO TOWN TO PROCURE TWO SHAPELY FIRS.
