S 5: g W S is 9, the Sfeduating C1858 Of l9l+9 have at last attained an important oal 5 Eg our graduation from High School. Of our present class of 19 members only Ehree Q ig have gone all twelve years to the Cunningham Grade and High School. They are: 2 wa Norman Zrubek, Anita Howell, and Eileen Whitmore. Don Theis, Dan Bayer, Robert Q 5 Stillwell, Patsy Hayes, and June Annett joined the class during the grade school 5 lg years. Patsy Hayes moved to Wichita during the sixth grade term. Our first S 95 teacher was Miss Helen Schumacker and our first Principal, Mr. Harve Manahan. f .g We took part in the annual Christmas programs and operettas presented by the Q E music department. Miss Cozette Taylor was our teacher from the fifth to the 5 5 eighth grades. There were ten students in the class which graduated May 5, l9h5 E S ng In September, l9L5, seventeen freshmen enrolled in the Cunningham High S 5 School. In addition to those who graduated from Cunningham Grade School, the S .5 following students joined our class: Patsy Hayes, Stanley Nelson, Neva Rose, 5 .Q Jim and Bob Shrum, Patricia Glenn, Charles Adamson, Gene Spade, Dixie Schwartz, 5 Q and Frank Dodge, who later moved away. Anita was elected class President. We 2 5 were officially initiated into C. H. S. by the seniors and so began our higher 2 2 education. Most of the class were members of Glee Club and Mixed Chorus. Dan Z 5 Bayer and Eugene Spade were on the baseball team. Our candidates for King and S Q Quee2.of the Hi-Y Carnival were Norman and Anita. Patsy Hayes was an attendant 5 5 to t e basketball queen. Miss Ruth McCandless was our sponsor 5 E ' 5 5 During our sophomore year we lost two members, Eugene Spade and Stanley Q 3 Nelson. We gained five new members: Mary Francis Tope, Doris Jean Wardell, S V, Joan Brady, Wayne Oak, and Wava Oswalt. Our class President was Don Theis, and 5 3 our sponsor, Miss Elaine Rempel. Some of our activities were: a one act play, S G grggatlng Partza Sgrving the biskitbglllboys, and an all school party. Joan 5 h y was an a en an o t e as et a queen of 'h7. We decided to pa class 5 5 dues to build u the treasur f r ' Y 5 5 P y o our junior year. 5 E . i Miss Rempel, with the help of Miss Clark, continued as sponsor in our 2 5 aunior year. Wava Oswalt was elected President. The class lost June Annett, 5 Q harles Adamson, and Doris Wardell, and gained a new member Caroline Becker. In Q E Novemberdwehgave our Junior Play, WStrictly Formaln, a teen age comedy. ' 2 E H 5 i Mrs. Pauline Smith, who came here to replace Mrs. Dyck, took over as our 2 E senior sponsor. Norman Zrubek was elected President. We added Wilma Wyer and Q E James O Rourke, to the class, but lost Mary Tope, who quit to be married. 2 E During our senior year we sponsored a grade school basketball tournament, had 3 ,Q ice cream socials, chili suppers, and sold magazines to make money. On November 5 E 3, we skipped to Wichita and had a wonderful time visiting points of interest. 5 K Don Theis and Eileen Whitmore were crowned WCarnival King and Queen of l9h8-LQW. 5 g Dan Bayer was Captain of the basketball team and Wava Oswalt was an attendant 5 Z to the basketball queen. In January we began work on our annual which kept us 2 5 busy for several months. She puts the powders in lemonade which she intends to offer Buddy but Samanthy and Lucien Littlefield partake of the lemonade first. Then the hilarity starts for the powders really work. Serena, too, imbibes and is a changed person. The climax of the fun is reached when Samanthy's two man-hating spinster friends drink some of the lemonade. They try to take Lucien away from Samanthy.
