Into the Ship of School they embark for a 12 year tour in education. Miss Mooney is there to patiently discipline and teach her little crew the first principles of smooth sailing. The second year passes quickly under the captainship of Miss Danron. In the third grade we get our first taste of bi-ennial examinations, from.Mrss Obee. We are surprised to learn from our Geography books that the world is round and what's more, that it has a north pole and a south pole which is cold all the time. Miss Long and Miss Wiles sail with us through the founm and fifth grades respectively. Some of our ship mates are disappointed to learn we lull not be transferred for the fifth grade to a smaller ship know as the 'Portable Bui1d1ng'. However we are consoled by the fact that a big modern clipper for the rest of our voyage is being constructed a short distance across tlxe waters from us. This next year sees us traveling along on a steady keel because of our new educational facilities. We are proud 1D think that we are the first sixth grade in our new hnlding To start out right out right, Miss Coulon teaches us par- liamentary procedure, with Dale Ammon as president. Our trip through the seventh and eighth grades is made on a new schedule, for now we are in Junior High. We have Miss McKnight and Mr. Thomas as home room instructors, tau gether with other teachers for various subjects. Mr. Ruzyxx directs our music abilities and Rev. 'ogoman has weekly Bible classes. .Dale Ammon and Kathleen Thurman receive highest scores in the eighth grade state tests. Finally in 1955, we become what is know as 'Freshies' and as 'grassy green' as they are made host of us enjoy our first year of high as the most carefree in school Though we glide over clear water most of the t1me, sail ing the 'stralt of algebra' causes many a braln storm and tempest among sailors less gifted in math ' rf . From selling magazines we earn 345 and a little more respect from the upper classmen. As Sephomores, with Mr. Daniels as steersman, we settle down to work in preparation for our last two years. Dale Amman is selected from a crew of 47 to serve as presidentznm the year. Entering eur Junior year with Miss McKnight as our -class advisor, we elect Marie White as president. After weeks of hard work, twelve of our actors and actresses present'lather Gees Domestic', with Irma Mayer and Robert Thomas taking the leads. Then comes the long anticipated event--the Junior-Senior Banquet. For about two months we plan and work to make it the mast beautiful banquet ever given. The school cafeteria is decorated like the Wstarry heavensn, with a solid blue sky hanging from above and large silvered stars sparkle be- low the lighting fixtures. Under this romantic setting the Banquet is served, and dancing with the accompaniment ef our orchestra, the evening is finished. It is a matter ofminutes before my boat leaves. I kiss my wife and son, Dscer, good-bye an hurry to my boat. The air, being very belly, I so ,out to sit on deck for a little rest. A young man, age five, cxmss over to talk to me. Soon our conversation is interrupted as a man calls, 'Jeffery, come herein As I look at the father I see him staring at me. Suddenly he says, WYou're not.' 'That's right, and you're Bill Conklin. What in the lmld brings you here, Bill?' Well, I'm an artist and I ,just came here to sell a ample of pictures to pay my alimony debts. What brings you here?W After a friendly talk I learn that Irma Mayer and Marie White are starring on Broadway, and that Bob Thomas is an owner of a sweetshop in Harlem. Bill further astound mswhan he said, 'Do you remember Norman Karns, the boy who got married in his senior year? Well, he's doing fine. I1e's working for Edsel Ford, designing those new combination au- planes and autos. He's going to meet me in New York with his wife and four children, you'1l have to see h1m.W B, 'All right, Bill, you can consider that a date.' .if He arises and goes into his cabin for a few magazines. As we were reading, I remarked, 'Gee, but it's good , y,,,, to see an American Magazine when you're living in some other country. 7' I Suddenly Bill Jumps up and shows me a Pogglar Mechanics, 'What'a so difterent about that one?n I inqu red, Wwell, look at the cover.' Sure enough, it's Paul Benson's picture sitting at the wheel of a racer. We then turn to page one-hundred twenty- five, where we read his story of Iirestone T1res,!sf f the Race Tracke' It is getting very late and Jeffery is getting tired, so we decide to 'turn inn for the evening. The next morning we are awakened and informed that our boat had landed an hour ago, no we hurry into our clothes and go to meet Henman and his family. After a very enjoyable visit, we take a plane . Margie Benson, Lena Busack, Ruth Shank, and Dorothy Crosby had all taken nurses' training. Each has good jobs as district nurses, ex- cepting Dorothy, who has found her lifes work in aviation.as an air stewardess for American Airlines. She's acting under Pilot Charles Andrews who has gained a great record flying. Fred Dennis, has been working for the Greyhound Company. Nor- man said that it was through Fred that he got his mtes cheep- er. Kenneth Winslow has staked his life in professional baseball, and Haldane Bucher is a veterinary and he lives right across the street from Kathleen Thurman, who married a preacher. Dale Lewis has married and moved t0 Florida Where he and Robert Pershing own a fruit ranch. Glen Aumend married Marvel Bucher and has the cutest set of twins you ever saw. He is living on a huge dairy farm in Missouri, he owns a new Cord, and also has a chaffeur. Norman further adds, Wihat do you fellows think Th.elma Hirsch is doing?n We both reply, nGosh, I don't know.n Hs nearly floors us when he answers, NShe has a daily broadcast over station 'G A B' in Whitehouse. He said that she gives talks on how to play bridge, Right after her talk, Irving McGilvery comes on the air with the news of the world. Norman says, Wfhitehouse has grown and is nearly run by those of our class. Dale Ammon is a judge there. Irvin Dzierzawski is a lawyer and Marcella Brenamen and Ruth Brown both work for him as his stenographers. vMThe population of Whitehouse exceeds that of Toledo andti 1953 there were there were 110 students graduating from one of its schools. Vivian Butler, Bcthane Gcthke, Roberta Free- worth, and Ethel Mme Yawberg all teach elementary school and Betty and Thelma are still sticking close to ether. Betty gg writes Thelma's radio speeches for her during the day time dl forgets to give her students any assignments. Bill Boyer has a son and he is going to a school taught by Maude Ford. The girls also led the list in athletics by winning the soccer and volleyball in- ,terclass tournament. Ou October 28 ne sponsored Hallov2e'on Masquerade Dance. There was plenty of eats and lots of Hfoon. Another outstanding date in our mind is Novemberlfiwhich was the night we presented 0Pleesed to Meetchau. There une laughs, thrills, and mystery throughout the whole performn ance which kept the audience in suspense. The Juniors found a very profitable way of making money by promoting two bake sales. Our Spring-I-Hop on March 3 was a great success. A nickelodeon for dancing, food to devour, and a pantamimefbr entertainment were the mein attractions of the evening. Our last and greatest event of the year--the Junior-Sen- ior Banquet. The scene was on the beach of Waikiki in Hawaii. Bob Stevens orchestra played beneath a bamboo hut in the moonlight. In order to furnish this way in our school, intramural teams in most sports are arranged and all boys may take part if they wish. Teams are chosen by captains and all the fb5yg are kent interested in corpetlng against one another. During the past school year of 1938-59, . intramurals have been given in football, basketball, ping pong, gud. shuffle board. James HcCarty's team beat Paul Jone's team in the finals for football, and Fred Dennis' team did likewise to Bill Boyer's team in basketball. For next year, the boys hope that our intranurals will work out and be as interesting as they were during 0 we-int.. the nest year of school. FOOTBALL COACHES BASKETBALL CAPTAIVS nCaB1tolsH.. .. G.
