I This was the year we lost football one month and got it back the next. Things were never dull in the '87-'88 year. To encourage attendance, the new administration decided on cash bonuses - Sharon Gilchrest won xt 5 ,f-f- ' Q S100.00. Several fads dominated the year. One was puff paint. Faces and words were puffed on shirts, shoes, and pants. All ages were outside during lunch but the high school boys started an unusual fad', - they had a wild desire for girl's purses. Basketball season started as energetically as the football season did. The teams played hard, and the season ended with Brenda Anderwald being chosen as the basketball queen and Raymon Green as the beau. Christmas was ushered in with the Cumby Christmas parade, class parties, and then we were out for the holidays. The biggest surprise of the year came in January - it snowed! - and we missed several days of school.

Two roads diverged in a wood . . I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Every spring brings the Jr.fSr. Prom and baseball. The baseball team ended the season 2nd in District. Two traditions for the end of the year are Black Jack Grove day, and the E.T. sport's competition for the elementary. On May 26th the 8th grade had its graduation ceremony, and on May 27th the 87-88 Seniors walked across the gym floor in cap and gown. By the end of the year, everyone was tiredg the teachers were still trying to smile but they had ceased to care about anything iincluding their appearance - bottom rightj except getting out of school. The last day of the year was ALMOST uneventful. One teacher did discover his car looking a little differently in the afternoon than when he parked it that morning fbottom middleb. We all learned a lot this year, especially those of us on the annual staff. We have finally learned how to spell our new superintendent's name - ALLcorn.
