Such a strong boy And your eyes how they gleam Your smile that's so warm Is forever eighteen. The girls how they cheered For the star of the team Catching the passes Of forever eighteen. Oh how our hearts Just opened up and cried On that terrible morning We found out you'd died. The tears like rivers Down our faces did stream For the boy who would never Finish being eighteen. We dedicate this book to Steve Bryant: Forever Eighteen by Denise Moore Grammer And on the day That we laid you to rest, The skies opened up And tried their best To cry out their sorrows To us it did seem For the boy who died At only eighteen. And then when we'd cried And our hearts were all drained The glorious sun shown And dried up the rain. Giving us the promise That we'd see you again. Thank you, Dear God For that shining Son Who gave us the promise That death has not won. See you in heaven, Steve, And when we get there it'l1 seem Like only yesterday When we were all eighteen. And when time starts to turn Our hair into grey We'll still be thinking Every day Of the boy who's face Just seemed to beam With the joy and happiness Of being eighteen. 'GQ 2 Born May 9, 1969 Died Sept. 26, 1987 All of us who knew Steve remember him in our own way. The student body participated in a ceremony on the football field where Steve's number was retired for the season. But there are other memories of Steve, as well. Below are some of the things we remember.

School started in Cumby with shiny floors and 2 new administrators. The students were ready, and so began the year ofthe '87 -'88 seniors. A wild energy came with the beginning ofthe football season, and the cheerleaders and drill team were responsible for school spirit. Too soon, the football season was over - homecoming king and queen were crowned, and the seniors were honored with a special ceremony because this was their last Uhr If E JN' , We ':.: fe B j Q A. lil -Y season with Cumby High. In October, the annual carnival proved to be a big success for the PTO. One sad note marred the year when we lost one of our own, Steve Bryant. With full hearts we said good-bye to Steve. D 0 O
