The local unit affiliated with the Texas Congress at the first meeting and continued to follow the suggested State outline of service. Five of the members have certificates after completing the Texas Procedure Course for Parents and Teachers. The unit is active in the Hopkins County Council. Past presidents of the group are Mrs. J. B. Lewis, Mrs. W. H. Brown, Mrs. Malcoln Cox, and Mrs. H. R. Shields, and Mrs. Wm. H. Brown. Other officers serving last year were Mrs. H. L. Barker, Mrs. Dale Smith, Mrs. W. S. ' To continue with zeal and devotion our efforts to secure and preserve a good life for all children, even in the face of war and disaster. 'To persevere in discovering new avenues of service and help to youth. To strive forever forward, counting no effort wasted that brings us a little nearer to the ideals of a world founded on the principle of human brotherhood. To protect our children against all the dangers of war, whether those dangers be physical, mental, or spiritual. To keep the faith delivered unto us by our forefathers, who hewed this America out of the wilderness and dedicated it to liberty, justice, halpiness and truth, for every human being. ,, . K mil T' P SENIOR HISTORY September 1931, was the year in which the present Senior class took their first step on the rocky road of education. we traveled this road for seven years before we came to the turn that led to High School. In the spring of 191.1 eight students took their diplomas. In our Freshman year our class blossomed into one of the finest in High School. Under the sponsorship of Mr. Clyde Heflin we won by an overwhelming majority .of votes. Nothing of much inporftance happened in our Sophomore year. Several socials were enjoyed by the class members. We also achieved an enviable record when we won the Halloween contest again in our Junior year. We also ordered our rings and sponsored a successful Junior and Senior ban- quet. In the fall of 1944 twenty of us entered the class. In the early part of the year we received our rings. The main event of the year has been the preparing of the Trojan The Senior trip will be a day that worft be forgotten in the near future. To sum it all up we have been a successful class. 5 , Uvv U 3 --. ,K I , U ,...,!fw'1, -..i-- .?,i,,-'1. , in-.J-M' 1-Li..L f F 4- ..4: .J'-.rv fl-I-.m.l.fFl-1S.f:. .P -x..a'!ln-1'. Nineteen graduated from grade school where the other nine joined us in the Freshmen year. Early in the season we elected Mr. R. J. Bolton as our sponsor, Billy Junell, president, Etta Faye Campbell, vice president, Helen Byers, secretary 8: treasurer, and RobbiewPlu.nkett as reporter. The highlights of entertainment for the year were the Christmas party in the Gymnasium, a trip to the Greenville show to see Mrs. Miniver , and a skating party also in the Gym. Indeed that year was an eventful and successhxl year for the Freshmen. In 1944, about thirty-two enrolled as Sophomores. Several dropped out and then as more enrolled our class increased to the grand total of thirty-eight, which we are proud to boast is the largest class in High School. To get things started on the right foot we elected Mr. Paul Galloway, our sponsor and under his care- ful guidance we have prospered. This year also has been an event- ful year. So far, we have had a Christmas party at Mr. Galloway's home and a Valentine party at Betty Williams' home. Then came the shocking news that Mr. Galloway wcnldhave to retire to his farm for the remainder of the term. So we will have to trudge on as best we can without a sponsor for the rest of the year. But if we know Sophanores, there will never be a dull moment. L' 'xl' O dLL1+. 1 .Q , ., .AAI . X. ,..,, ,. H .' F' -Y: - - 12-ff, -I .- lm. jf ,fe 1 I X 15 .. 4. . ,I M: T 1, Y -- V .
