The local unit affiliated with the Texas Con- gress at the first meeting and continue to follow the suggested State outline of service. Five of the members have certificates after completing the Texas Procedure Course for Parents and Teachers. The unit is active in the Hopkins County Council. Past Presidents of the group are Mrs. J. B. Lewis, Mrs. W. H. Brown, Mrs. Malcoln Cox and Mrs. H. R. Shields. Mrs. Brown is now serving her second term as President. Other officers this year are Mrs. H. L. Barker, First Vice-President, Mrs. Dale Smith, Second Vice-President, Mrs. W. S. Manning, Third Vice-President, Mrs. Bob Moseley Jr., Secre- tary, Mrs. W. C. Rape, Treasurer, Mrs. Frank Weaver, Publicity Chairman, Mrs. H. R. Shields, Parliamen- tarian. Although not essentially a money making organ- ization, the P.T.A. has sponsored many projects with the proceeds used to assist the school in a physical way. Noteworthy accomplishments during recent years are: Donations to library each year, donations to lunch room, playground equipment, campus beautifi- cation, redecoration of stage, assisted F.F.A. in installation of shower in gymnasium. It is the aim of the unit to buy a piano and a new front curtain for the stage in the near future. The following is the P.T.A. Wartime Pledge, toward which the Cumby unit is striving:
