The answer for most became Yes, as we returned for our final year here at Cumberland. It was now our turn to show the leadership and be the crutches for the new kids on campus. It was the start of a new decade with new ideas and interests. We had a closeness now. There was a lot of excitement, but there would be more spectacles just ahead. Now we begin to think of independence, new faces, and challenges which will further shape our tomorrows. We have wondered at numer- ous social and historical events. Confusion, instability, and corruption. But more fondly, we will remember May 9, 1980. Now let us work to achieve more dreams, contemplate opportunities, and begin from this day. 25

Reflections Half-way there. For some it has been too long to get this far. Oth- ers have felt it was days of good times, but everyone agrees it has been an experience. Our first year as college freshmen seemed different in many ways, but it was a new beginning. A chance to meet people, start a career, and grow as individuals. Who could forget the first day we arrived on campus. It was our time now to enjoy the maturity of college life. The dominant idea that sticks in our memories is the spirit shared by everyone. Our freshman year was one of change and excitement. The fashion of the season was the toga and Superman became the box office hit of the time. Our Intercollegiate teams seemed to keep winning with the spirit and enthusiasm of friends backing them all the way.
