Cumberland College won the team championship with 19 points! 57 Golf- 1971 Gerald Summar John King Columbia State Community College played host to the 1970 TJ.C.A.A. Golf Tournament. The two day medal play was played at Chapel Hill, Tennessee. Cumberland College won the team tournament with a 36 hole of 650. The low medalist was Charles Hudgens. I don ' t mind talking to you, but I just noticed — you have no shadow. — Jimmy Moore In this year ' s Phoenix we have tried to present at least a shadow of what Hfe at Cumberland is really like — to mirror a full reflection would not only be impossible, but unwise. ° The goal of the 1971 Phoenix Staff was to produce a different book. This was achieved at least in one way — an exclusive cover! We have also attempted to look for a moment into the life of the individual — to put into print the feelings of many students, hopefully expressed in the poems we have chosen. Regardless of whether we have succeeeded or failed with this year ' s Phoenix, I would like to thank several people who lended themselves to the seriousness and fun of college life. Along with Martha Young — No. 1 Consultant and Assistant-Editor, we worked together to plan lay-outs, make assignments, select and organize pictures, and check numerous little details. Thanks to Judy Arrington, out Business Manager, who financed a great deal of the book through the sale of advertise- ments, and also to Harriet Berry who took care of the remaining ads for us at a time when the rest of us were busy trying to get organization under way. If there is any misidentification in the class sections, you can blame Ellen Jo Chaffm, who we hope worked with accuracy on a tough section.
