This year the Junior Varsity football team put mind, body and soul into the game and broke a two year 19 game losing streak. With the help of Coaches Johnson, Butcher and Cosby we whipped Pow- hatan 30 to 0! The offensive plays were called by quar- terbacks Stewart Grant and Cleveland John- son; the leading rusher was Tony Ellison, said to be the best in the district. The defensive players were not lagging behind in their jobs either, for noteam scored over 30 points against us. The defense was led by leading tacklers Lionel Brown and Danny Trent. Despite our losing record of one win and seven losses, these young ath- letes worked hard and enjoyed improving their abilities. Through this hard work, the junior varsity squad showed a promise of better things to come. Leading ground gainer Tony Ellison displays his bre akaway form.
