Eldridge Blanton from the Cumberland club was chosen president of the newly formed Heart-of-Virginia Federation. One of the projects of the club was writing to former Beta members, informing them of the activities of the club. Also, Christmas gifts were given to needy children. The Latin Club was organized at Cumber- land this year by the sec- ond year Latin class. This club encourages an in- terest in and appreciation of the civilization, lan- guage, literature, and art of ancient Rome. Through a skit in which the students used the Latin language and portrayed Roman customs and history, the club a- roused in other boys and girls a desire to study the Latin language.
