HISTORY talent to this “show of shows” with participants from the whole county, Long shall we remember James Parker as Uncle Remus, A spectacular hit of the evening was a collection of old songs sung and dramatized by our Glee Club, under the direction of Miss Agee, The following senior girls had a part in this performance: Virginia Crockett, Margaret Irving, Jean Thompson, Shirley Blackwell, Patricia Brown, Pearl Bruce, Rozine Stout, Katharine Holman, Dorothy Fariss, and Dottie Brown, Jack Ingle was sent to Boys' State, where he was mayor of his city; Virginia Crockett attended Girls' State, We welcomed Bradley Carter to our class in the fall of '50; Dale Sutton, Billy Tyson, and Everett Dawson left us that year, Charles Spillman and Charles Mahan also left to join the Air Force, During the previous summer we lost Mary Kay Wealch, who moved back to Michigan; and Helen Marion, who got married, also left us, In the spring Shirley Meinhard married one of our seniors, Walter Blackwell. In the fall of '51 we returned to the halls of C,H,S, as Sophisticated Seniors, This year there were nineteen of us, Angie Glenn had withdrawn in the spring of 1951. We started the year off with a bang by electing a most ambitious and determined annual staff. This group pushed legislation through, which brought about what we hope is a betterannual than was ever published in the history of C,H,S, The group selected worked most diligently and faithfully. Another asset to this year's accomplishments was the establishment of a Library Club, which has become a most important group in our school, The Dramatic Club under the direction of Mrs, Budd, our sponsor, presented Lena Rivers starring members of the senior class in the various dramatic and comedy roles, It was a tremendous success and hailed as the best ever in Cumberland history, There were four seniors on this year's boys' basketball team, and two of our girls participated on the girls‘ team, The year's baseball team is a very good, énergetic one even after losing a number of our players in graduation last spring. We, the senior class, wish to express our deep appreciation and thanks to our teachers who have given us so much valuable help and inspiration in our high school life, We realize that any success or accomplishments that we achieve in later life : are due in part to their efforts to inspire us to make the best of our abilities, We also wish to thank our many classmates : and friends for the parts they have played in making our long struggle through high school more pleasant, The thought of leaving behind so many friends, of course, saddens us, but we realize that this is the first phase of fulfilling our life's destinies, We ask those whom we leave behind to make the most of opportunities given them and to carry on where we have left off, remembering always “Onward and Upward, HISTORIANS: Pearl Bruce Shirley Blackwell Mary Moorefield SENTOR SPOTLIGHT MOST INTELLIGENT Shirley Blackwell James Parker MOST MUSICAL Jean Thompson Franklin Adams MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED Rozine Stout Jack Ingle BIGGEST FLIRT Mary Moorefield Bradley Carter
