The community is providing a new struc- ture for its high school youth. This year, we watch the new development with interest and say farewell to the old. Along with this material progress, we must continue scholastic advancement. This is evident in a National Merit Semi-finalist for the first time this year and other scholarships being awarded to CHS students. Progress is shown in the formation of a student council. We, the class of '59 invite you to view for the last time, high school life in the old building. Table of Contents Faculty 8. Cumberland's inexperienced Beavers met stiff competition throughout the basketball season thus ending the year with one ofthe school's poorer seasonal records. However, there were some bright spots such as the play of sophomores John Cook, Don Alfonse, Peter Olson, and Robert Chubb. Only one team member will graduate from the squad, Captain Mel Johnson. With several letter- men returning, the basketball in Cumberland has a promising outlook for the future.
