The batting of Berta, Whitacre, Rhode, and Seinkowski weighted heavily in many important games. De- pendable defensive play was shown by Mayes, McCulloch, and Brody in addition to the fine pitching of Pilcher, Shattgen, and Evans. While a number of these veterans have graduated, many of the remaining squad members are returning this year with hopes of a successful season. 29
