Basketball Team ROW ONE: Mayes, Mele, Coder, Baily, Enlow, Shelton. ROW TWO: Coach Herington, Peiffer, Long, Hoffman, Smith, Lucus, Kaiser, McCormick, Coach Robb. Up to January 12th, the C.S. basketball team came up with a record of 5 wins and 7 losses. The failure to win the key games have curtailed the Wildcat's chances for the conference title with a conference record of 1-3 so far. There were times when the team looked unstoppable as evidenced in their play against such teams as Omaha University, William Penn, Graceland, and Illinois College. Graduating from this yearls team are Frank Long and Gary Mayes. Frank Long, with his dependable rebounding and timely lay-in, will be missed. Gary Mayes, hustling for the ball at every chance and always making that key pass, did a fine job in leading the Wildcats toward their quests for victory. Wes Peifferis, George Lucus', John Bailey's, and Bob Smith's all-round play also added to the teamis strength. These men deserve recognition for their efforts this season and it is'hoped that they will achieve a respectable and winning season. Thus far, big Frank Long has led the Wildcats with a 15 point average for 12 games. Close behind with a 14 point average is Wes Peiffer. Following in order are Bob Smith, John Bailey, and Gary Mayes. With veterans returning next year, Coach Bill Herington is hoping to form a line nucleus for a strong team and a winning season. 26
