eniom Those were hot days in September, 1947, when Culver-Stockton welcomed us as freshmen, a part of the largest enrollment in the history of the college, when men, as now, were in the ma- jority. That year Alpha Psi Omega was formed: Gamma Upsilon was reorganized and published the Student Directory: student- administration relationships benefited from the formation of the President's Cabinet: the third men's fraternity, Beta Sigma Gamma. came to campus: women students began to govern themselves through A.W.S.: and, as grand climax, the corner- stone for Carl Iohann Memorial Library was laid. The new stadium was wonderful. More school spirit was evi- dent. We were on the air with the Culver-Stockton Hour over WTAD. The first issue of The Dome was in our hands that spring. we enjoyed the bliss of the Cat's Pause. The wonderful new Library was opened for us our junior year. For the first time, T Homecoming was student directed. We survived the 'cold weather during the 3 coal shortage. The Physical Education L majors started PEM Club. The college Vocational Placement Bureau was Memorial Library. born. Commencement brought an im- portant milestone in the history 'ot C-S, the dedication of the Carl Johann Arlene Wirtz Keokuk. House Council 3. 4: Pep Squad 3, 4: B.A., Elem. Ed. Philip L. Bowden Forest Park. Ill. Mu Theta Nu Treas. 3: Klieg Players Treas. Z: Gamma Upsilon 1. 2, 3. We returned as seniors to find President McDonald on leave of absence and L. E. Ziegler acting president, but soon to become president because of the continued illness of our former head. Under the leadership of Harold Penstone, Homecoming this year was a big success without even the usual rain. The new uniforms of the band added a note of elegance, and the floats were more attractive than ever. The stadium was named in honor of Ellison Poulton.
