G ERTRUDE FOLCKEMER The Megaphone has been Culver-Stockton's newspaper since September, 1919, when Claude E. Spencer, present librarian, edited the first number, a small four-page sheet, with pages about the size of those of the Literary Digest. The Megaphone of 1929-30 'is a Five-column, four page weekly pa er, much larger in size than most college newspapers, with a total of 32 issues dauring the school year, and with a circulation o over 600 copies each week. Members of the Megaphone Staff are eligible to membership in Gamma Upsilon, honorary student's publication fraternity, after one semester of satisfactory service on the college paper. The personnel of the 1929-30 organization Changed several times. Misses Norma McCreery, Old Guard Editor, and Kiula Ingold, Business Manager, resigned during the early art ofthe year, as did Gordon Lane, Advertising Manager. These positions were Filleg by the present members of the Megaphone group. Sterling Bilderback, assistant managing editor and James Boulware, assistant advertising manager, deserve special mention for their excellent work. Several new features were added to the columns, amon them being the Campus Opinion column of Muriel Atkins, the Mostly Sports cigest by Shannon Graham, the Weekly poem, Clark Smith's inimitable style in his column of life entitled One Thing 'N Another , and a series of Freshman reminiscences called As the Frosh Tells It , besides regular Faculty Editorials. The eyes of the Megaphone are on the future with expectations that the financial status of our publication may be stabalized, the paper be linked up with state and national collegiate news associations, and stricter aculty supervision be attained, all building toward a newspaper that will be the single greatest contributing factor in a Greater Culver-Stockton . Sixth Street ,I Smart Footwear QUINCY, ILLINOIS A BOY'S COMPOSITION ON PANTS Pants are made for men, not for women. Women are made for men, not for pants. When a man pants for a woman, and a woman pants for a man, they are a pair of pants. Pants are like molasses-they are thinner in hot weather, and thicker in cold. Men are often mistaken in pantsg such mistakes are breeches of promises. There has been much discussion whether pants is singular or plural. Seems to me when men wear pants it's plural-and when they don't, it's singular. Men go on a tear in their pants and it's all right, when the pants go on a tear it's all Wrong. If you want to make pants last, make the coat first.
