THE EFFECTIVE COLLEGE To crown the Hillftop with commodious buildings is beautiful but to make those buildings the busy Workshop of the effective college will be a real achievement. The effective college is one which so functions that positive results in life are always, in evidence. Great teachers, vigorous and openfminded students with a right attitude are necessities. Great teachers arouse thinking and thinking men serve their generation. Great teachers feel deeply .and feeling men see and understand the human side of all progress. A A' The effective college sends out men strong in body, mind and soul. These men must know themselves and the World in its struggle in hunger of body and in the throes of mind and faith. They must be able to stand in the midst of conflict, of changing things and the chaos of ideas. It is theirs to have a high courage and a training in keen and discriminating thinking and in lofty living. They breathe the breath of that freedom which is conf structive andhas the spirit of service for the race. Truth should be their quest but truth as adjusted to life, their passion. Not Wealth, but life must be the dominant ambition. The effective college will have a changing cur' riculum to meet the needs of each generation. It will meet the rising tide of new problems with clear 'analysis and understanding. Sympathy, brotherhood, truth and a living faith will calm the troubled waters of human restlessness. The effective college is the dream of dreams. the hope of hopes. It is faith triumphant in Christian education.
