After an illustrious military career, Colonel Dalferes commenced all over again the trials and tribulations of platoon drill. From the time that the eager-faced new cadets fell in for their first workout on the drill field during plebe week to the grand finale at Thanksgiving garrison pa- rade, old and new cadets alike mastered their drill to perfection. Fall Drill included the basic fundamentals in military move- ments, which were literally beat into the feet of the returning vacationists. Later Fall illbrill the cadets were issued their rifles. Some found these pieces too heavy to control, while others could be seen hard at work on the Queen Ann's Manual. Parades gave the well-drilled companies a chance to show off their skill to appreciative audiences. As a finale to Fall Drill, an Exhibition of the re- spective Battalions took place at Thanks- giving. Sunday after Sunday throughout the fall, the Infantry companies with Big A in the lead paraded before appreciative audiences.
