H ,M .iu-sw The Track Season ln the first meet of the I957 season Cul- ver lost to Central of South Bend, 70 to 39. Dwight Newman took a first with a 42 foot, ll inch heave of the shot put and Dave Washburn zoomed over the pole vault bar at IO feet, three inches. Culver was vic- torious over Aubbeenaubee Township CLei- ters Fordl by a score of 65 to 44, and win- ning eight of the l3 events. ln the third meet of the season the Culver thinlyclads downed Walkerton, 67 to 4l, taking seven of the 13 events. ln the three-way meet at Plymouth, Cul- ver finished third as Plymouth came in first with 845 points, Argos with 53, and Culver with l3Q. Newman's toss of the shot put was the only first, good for 48 feet, six inches. The next team to bow to Culver was Bour- bon as the Maroon trackmen walloped them 84 to 25, taking an amazing lO out of l3 events. At the county track meet Bremen nosed out Argos, 7l5 to 70, while Bourbon came in third with 4l points. Culver finished fourth with 22, West had lO5, and LaPaz lO. The only sectional winners were Dwight Newman and Alvin Triplet, both in the shot put, and both appeared in the regionals. l-Ned Herr and Gene Benedict in the half mile. 2-Bob lvlcCoige hits the dirt in the broad jump.
