Overcrowded classes was a problem throughout the entire school, but especially affected the language department. Teachers were forced to have two and three levels of language in one period, which was not only a disadvantage to the teachers but also to the students who were not receiving the individual attention they needed. ENGLISH CLASSES WERE JAM-PACKED with one hundred additional students and no new increase in the number of faculty members in the department. This is what awaited the two new replacements to the department, Mrs. Linda Carau and Mrs. Mary Jo Dever. Mr. James B. Allen B.S. Concord College English 9 Colonnade Mr. Allen P. Martin, Jr. N.C.
