Llterary Socletles The two llterary societies were organized shortly aftei school started last fall Many, entertaining programs were given this xear until Christ Sen1or D1v1s1on were classified as the Phllomatheons and the Jun1o1 D1v1 s1on as the Blue Ribbons Alfred Manning was elected President of the Philomatheons Frank Maxam Vice President and Delmar Courchene Sec and T1 easurer Lowell Aplln was elected President of the Blue Ribbons Hovxaid Hagen Vice President and Robert Nix Sec and Treasurer On account of the many other school activities and special programs the societies had to dlscon tlnue their programs at Christmas time until a later date Extemporaneous Speaklng C 0l1t6St W1ll1am Hagen represented the Culbertson High School in the Sub district Extemporaneous Speaking Contest held at Plentyvx ood Ifebruarv 18 1928 The Parent Teachers Assoc 1at1o11 The Parent Teachers ASSOCl2.t10H was organwed shortly after the nevs school building vsas completed in 1920 The Parent Teachers Association has thrived ever since They have programs and business meetings on the first Monday of every month This year the ax elage attendance has been eighty five They have sponsored the City L1b1arv in which there are now seven hundred volumes This library IS located under the bank and IS open on Saturdays from 2 00 t1ll 5 00 P M Thex have also spon sored a safety program for children going to and from school Mr J E Peterson IS President of the P.
