Cinderella Once upon a time, in a far, far away land, lived a very lovely girl named Cinderella. She lived with her cruel stepmother and ugly stepsisters, Portia and Phoebe. She worked from morning to night doing everything the women commanded her to do. But she was not unhappy because she thought it was her duty to obey. One day, the women began talking about a ball which the prince was giving to find a bride. And of course, the stepsisters thought their chances to become the new princess were very good. Cinderella was not permitted to go to the ball. After she helped her sisters dress for the ball, a fairy godmother visited Cinderella and dressed her in beautiful clothes so she too could meet the Prince. At first glance, the Prince and Cinderella fell in love and this is what happened. The prince and Cinderella were very much in love even though he didn’t know her name. Cinderella was so happy that she forgot about the warning her godmother had given her about being home by midnight. The prince was going to ask her name when the clock struck 12. Cinderella ran out of the ballroom, up the steps and out to her golden carriage. The prince tried to find her but couldn’t, all he found was one of her glass slippers. He was very sad. The next morning the stepsisters talked about the ball and the beautiful Princess who came very late. Cinderella was very excited about the ball and told her stepsister’s what she thought the ball was like, (when you’re driving — lovely night) The Prince demanded that every woman in the kingdom try the slipper on so that he might find his bride. About to give up hope, Cinderella appears in the garden. He tries the slipper on her and it fits. The princess has been found and then they all live happily ever after. 26
