Imagine a clear night with the stars dancing over your head and the moon shining bright. Im- agine you and your partner dancing closely together with the light sound of romantic music behind you. If you can invision this you will have a pretty good idea of what Prom 81 was like. From the very beginning Prom 81 was a tense, nervous, and exciting moment. For the guys the question was who to ask, for the girls it was who was going to ask them. Getting the tuxes, the dresses, flowers, and making the reservations are all a part of it. But the hard work is definitely worth the wait when you walk into the gym and see how beautiful they have made it just for you. Imagine!!!

Purgold: A Special Day Our cross country team has one meet that is different from all the rest and that’s Purgold. How many meets can you go to where you can hear the band, watch the pom pon girls and cheerleaders, see the queen and her court, and most of all watch the purple and gold harriers run, all in one day? The meet really starts the day before with an assembly where the Purgold Court and cross country team is announced. This year’s Purgold King and Queen are Mike Buerger and Lynn Tracy. The court is: Jackie Romich and Mike Conrad, Liz Tatera and Scott Walker, Suzanne Pritzlaff and Jim Borowski, Judy Lahr and Jim Ciurlik, and Sue Pekar and Dan Lesch. After the assembly we have a short practice in which we hear the story about Bernie. Mr. Wetzel and Mr. Thalman have done all they can to prepare us for the meet. The outcome depends upon us, and how much effort we put forth. The boy's varsity finished in 2nd place. Mike Conrad finished first for Cudahy followed by Dan Lesch, Jim Borowski, Scott Walker, and Mike Buerger. The boy’s junior varsity finished in 2nd place. Mike Stolz finished first for Cudahy followed by Drago Trifunovich, Jamie Lesch, Brendan Moran, and Mark Szymczak. The girl’s finished in 4th place. Diane Williams won the meet, and also scoring for Cudahy was Robin Koenig, Julie Otte, Cheryl Segedi, and Paula Pehowski. Purgold becomes a special event because everyone involved helps to make it a special day.
