Student Council, serves as the liason between the students and the administration. Through student council the student can help im- prove the school and get recreational act- ivities that everyone can enjoy. This year, in addition to running all Homecoming activities, Student Council once again sponsored the popular singing Valentine's and also gave out scholarships to worthy students. These, plus other school service projects kept student council busy through- out 1974-75. The officers are: Nick Fri- cano - President, Sandy Paciga - Vice- Pres. , Sandy Lewkowski - Secretary, and Betsy Spahiu - Treasurer. ROW 1: K. Milaeger, S. Paciga, L. Lupo, D. Denton, B. Detlaff, E. The advance of science has enabled man to communicate at twice the speed of sound while he still acts at half the speed of sense. C. Megna - Treas. , S. Feiler - Pres. , D. Centell - V. Pres. Words are more than thing object pointer-to-another-thing printed signs of something else. The words in a language are our means of communicating with one another, our ESCAPE HATCH from the world of purely private meaning. Words are a way to communicate with someone else. Ever think of it that way? And people have to communicate with each other to be people, to have community. To share ideas, knowledge, experience. To have relationships with each other. From grade school on we have gradually amassed a mysterious and awesome strength, which we realized in our sophomore year, for in this year we set a local precedent, coming together for the first time in a union of east and west. And as 354 individuals searching for a means of per- sonal self-fulfillment, we have swept over our city and school as members in an enormous tidal wave of youth- ful exuberance, mshing into every crevice where answers may have lain, exploring every detail that may have provided a clue to the future. And finding.. . sometimes, answers, other times clues... and often, each other. In our search we have unexpectedly set numerous achieve- ment records that will tarnish in trophy cases, be written into local history, and preserve themselves in our memories. Some of us will remain; some of us will be called away; but no matter how we utilize the future, memories of teenage life in a midwest suburb called Cudahy will nev- er fade from our minds. Cudahy started out their 1974 baseball season with a bang'. By winning seven out of their first eight games, putting them in first place for the first round of play. The first and only loss in the first round came when a tough West Milwaukee team turned in a 2-1 victory. The loss didn't seem to bother the packers though, until the close of the season when we were upset four out of the last five games. The Pack ended up the season in a three way tie for the Suburban Championship. Award winners at the end of the season were Steve Curry; batting champ. Capt. Vince Megna; MVP, Scott Sylla; MV Pitcher and Jon Schweitser; Espirit De Packers. Only Meg- na will not be back for the Packers next year. It looks like a bright 1975 season. At one point in the season ranked as one of the best in the state. This year the team learned and experienced something that many winners don't, and that is that sports-worn phrase, ... but how you play the game . Accepting defeat was even more difficult this year; never- theless, each member swallowed hard and without a doubt profited through the experience. worth listening to worthy of our trust and sacred to our touch. By Edwin McMahon 8 Peter A. Campbell 202 God touches us in the same way that the world and other people touch us.. . Calling, inviting us to become more open, to become more human. By Edwin McMahon Peter A. Campbell 203 Simple things, but natural things, that are loaded with meaning, are always wide open to deeper meanings and which point (usually without trying) to all types of very human experiences and expressions From signs and symbols By Patricia Arlin 204 Words, as everyone knows, 'mean7 nothing by themselves although the belief that they did . . . was once equally universal. From the meaning of meaning, By Charles Kay Ogden and Ivor ArmstrongRichards Only people can give signs and symbols meanings which will alter their world, shape or destroy, permanently affect their relationships with one another. From Signs and Symbols By Patricia Kennedy Arlin Whatever your choice, choose something and try to let it speak what is real and let the words you speak be as real as you and your flesh From Signs and Symbols By Patricia Kennedy Arlin What words of wisdom can I give them? How can I help to ease their ways? Now they must learn from one another day by day . . . From Fiddler on the Roof Music by Jerry Bock Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick
