2 arrow yearbook 3 4 1 9 64 : A R ROW yearbook of cudahy high school cudahy, Wisconsin vol. 41 barbara wise, editor 5 Arrow Staff--Barbara Wise, Editor in Chief; Alice Burnside, Senior Editor; Ruth Seminaro; Martin Valasek, Business Manager; Pat Rice; Karen Henning; Diane Uttke. Photographers--Richard Media; Paul Mueller. 8 With the passage of years, you may look back upon this school year as the time when the darkness of ignorance became bright with the gleam of knowledge. You will remember the joys and frustrations often en- countered in the classroom, the feelings experienced with fellow students during critical moments, the tension upon taking examinations, and most of all, the sense of accomplishment upon attaining your goals. More- over, you will recall the excitement of football and basketball games, track and swimming meets; you will remember thrills experienced when our teams won, and the remorse when they lost. You will think back upon your graduation, and the four years preceeding it; which you spent in this building, soon to be replaced by a new one. To preserve a record of these moments and the experiences you and your fellow students have had, this annual strives to capture the eyes” and mind of the scholarship, leadership, the character, and the activities of Cudahy High School --1963-64. 9 CONTENTS FACULTY P. 1 7 nnn«Mi?ATirtMO D A Q BOARD OF EDUCATION Helen Drewek, Edward Comer, Emil Mandl--Pres., Walter Ploetz--Supt., Robert J. A .F .S. programs: powderpuff football, candy sales--Ed Santos, our foreign exchange stu- dent . . . the cake baking and rush encountered in preparation for the L.R.T. tea; and the innumera- ble books to be shelved and stamped; and the arrival of ALL those new books! . . . planning for the water ballet . . . donating money from the N.H.S. to the A.F .S. and to the English Department for the pur- chase of records . . . discussion of the aspects of the theatre in dramatics club . . . looking to our fu- ture in Paramedical careers . . . experiments with electronics in Radio Science club . . . yelling for our teams until our throats were hoarse, in Pep Club . . . trying to meet deadlines for the Pacer . . . studying the aspects of education in the F .T.A. . . . and, finally letting off steam through athletics such as bowling and basketball in the G.A.A. 45 ARROW STAFF -OR- HOW WE GOT THIS WAY! 1st ROW: Left-right Ruth Seminaro Diane Uttke Pat Rice Junior Editor foreground: Paul Mueller Photographer 2nd ROW: Marty Valasek Business Manager Karen Henning Alice Burnside Senior Section Editor 3rd ROW: Richard Media Photographer Mr. T. Their labors are rewarded with G.A.A. and Drama Club taking first; Pep Club second; F .T .A. third. To Mermaids, better luck next year. 67 SENIOR CLASS PLAY CAST: Mr. Frank .... CROSS COUNTRY HURRYING HARRIERS IN REVIEW The 1963 season was another winning one for our hard working harriers. This marked the sixth consecutive campaign with more wins than losses. To help achieve this enviable record, twenty-nine, well-conditioned athletes toiled end- less hours on the hills and trails of Sheridan Park spear headed by eleven letter winners, who were: Phillip Deutsch, Donald Greicar, Terry Honeck, Gilbert Loppnow, Thomas Prigan, Alan Rosewicz, Allan Rupich, George Sawchuk, Edward Sobczak, Ronald Teschner, and Richard Wasicka, who was the first freshman letter winner in Cudahy cross country history. With 20 members of this year's squad return- ing, among them 7 letter winners, and with the '63 Freshman squad the best in years, our Pur- golders could well heap many more honors upon our school in 1964. 142 ABOVE: left to right—ROW 1—E. I REMEMBER I remember, not so long ago, I walked These halls, afraid, For all the things around me Were so big And new. Little did I know Then, The memories they would bring And the Heartaches They would hold. I remember How our friendships grew And the dances that We held. But most of all I remember Each Little thing we did, Holed up in a treasure chest To be opened only By a dream. My senior year has come. And I must bid Farewell To all the friends Who meant so much, And to the teachers Who helped me on my way. And I hope That all who follow me Are as fortunate As I have been, To find Their memories So completely grand!
