CUDAHY HIGH SCHOOL Webster defines that gift of education which gives value where it is due, suitable foresight”. We know it as the proper perspective”. In order to cope with the complex world of today, young people need to start out with a definite idea of proper values. Cudahy High School has taught us how to grasp and weigh our problems, and the opportunity of exercising our foresight” is before us in the year 1952. ADVISORS MR. MURPHY Business MR. King Jim Lehrman aud Queen Margie Krikelas, led the dreamy dancers to the soft strains of Richard Kent’s orchestra. Among the top hats, gloves, and cocktail glasses, the royal couple led the grand march in all their regal splendor closing the pages on another unforgettable prom at C. H. S. PROMS JUNIOR PROM 1951 Remember that one special day in May? Yes, our Jr. Prom, May 12, 1951 Think back and the first thing you think of is how nervous you were when it was time to dress; then getting into the car so carefully as not to wrinkle your evening clothes. How you sighed as you entered the gym! Remember how our decorations of white and blue paper and our pillars worked together to produce our theme? Stairway to the Stars. Dreamy wasn’t it. Oh yes, and getting the pictures taken, not knowing where or how to stand? And don’t forget the soph- isticated rhythm of Richard Kent's orchestra. King Jesse Jones and Queen Marolin Koscielniak and court led the grand march. How proud you were as you danced that last dreamy dance. Then the feast came; where did you eat? Oh—I'll never forget -it — it was the most unforgettable place. After that you rode around in your limousine like Kings and Queens watching the sun rise. Later some of us left the others and parted for home or went out for breakfast. Maybe a lot of this is quite dim in your minds, but the hours spent like minutes at our prom will never be forgotten—ever! 1952 - Hop Queen Theresa and King Vernon SENIOR HOP 1952 March 7, turned the study hall into a replica of the streets of New Orleans. Reigning over the Mardi Gras was Queen Theresa Kroll and King Vernon Zess. Amid the gay streamers, balloons, and confetti, the combo of Richard Kent led the dancers into the spirit of Mardi Gras” and the evening ended all too soon for the happy couples. ■Pigtail Day Royalty Dick Haske and Edie Stevens PIG TAIL DAY On Oct. 24, C. H. S. was again the set- ting for the annual Pig Tail Day . Amid the buttons and bowes we found Dick Haske and Edie Stevens reigning as King 'and Qu- een over the festivities held that evenina in the gym. Remember Seniors? Fun wasn't it? It all began with the ringing of “Ye Old School Bell.” The kiddies filled up the stairs .and poured onto the first, second, and third floor corridors dressed in all kinds of clothes. What ever you wore you couldn't miss the panta- loons. How can anyone forget Julian Orlan- dini with his getup of an old lamplighter, or Mary Gravning with her red and blue susp- enders, slightly flowered here and there. Did you notice Donna Hepp and her partner the giraffe? She held it in her arms most of the time. The day was complete with activities. Be- fore each class, a group would gather under the clock on the second floor fora short game of Ring Around The Rosie. At noon the sen- iors gathered in front of the school to take pictures. Between the cameras, the games, and the refreshments served later in the evening, the night ended for the Kid- '7 Crowning by Traditional Address JUNIOR CLASS PLAY Standing — J. Burnside, E. C., Jr. £• Sr. Class Play, Jr. Red Cross, Sc’ance-Radio Club Student Council 43 Senior Class History Do you remember that momentous day in September, 1948? We seniors do. That day was our first at high school. What confusion! C. H. S. was so-o-o large and bewildering, and the scornful eyes of the seniors were upon us. The year of 1948-9 brought new and exciting activities. Don Wilson was elected our class president. He was to serve us this way for almost all of our four years. We fumbled through our science I -II and emerged triumphant sophomores! During this year we made headlines with chlorine gas filling the school and overcoming the following girls: Pat Burn- side. Muriel Weinhold, Yvonne Bourdo, Theresa Kroll, Marlene Ruditys and Beverly Momsen. Our happy years of school continued. More sure of ourselves, we admit, we bothered the I reshies a bit. Time passed quickly and our junior year arrived. This was the year of our Junior Prom, with Jesse Jones as king, and Marolin Koscielniak as queen. Our theme, Stairway to the Stars , was a huge success. So was our class play, Brother Goose . We didn't know we could act! We were so proud of our champion foot- ball team that year. Then our Senior year! We laughed haughtily at the freshmen, scurrying to their classes. So much happened this last year; our Senior Homecoming was the greatest in history. Queen Grace Adamczyk was escorted down the regal aisle by four lovely beauties: Estelle Vojvodich, Helen Nagy, Pat Mahsem and Pat Geiger Queen Grace was crowned by Senior Don Rytman. There was Pigtail Day with Dick Haske and Edith Stevens reigning as king and queen; our Senior Hop, Mardi Gras , with Theresa Kroll and her chosen king, Vernon Zess and, of course, our Senior Play, Aunt Tillie Goes to Town , our banquet and at last there was Commencement, including caps and gowns and our proud validictorian's speech of farewell. High school years are over and our adult life has begun. But Cudahy High School Days will always be remembered.
