Too bad we didn't have the new look to cover up those shaky knees as we gingerly groped our way through a maze of halls and a million doors. Yes, we were the greenies , and it stuck out all over. With Mel Zemplinski as our class president, however, we bravely waded through our first year of high school. The beginning of our second year was spent mostly with kidding the new arrival of freshmen with no mercy. We were the sophomores . . . practically upper classmen! Leona Jagodzinski and Bill Vatter reigned over our big social event of the year, the Post Prom. Now, solidly cast into the important role of getting an education, we again chose Mel Zemplinski to head our class. Now we were juniors, regular big wheels. To help us through this year, we chose Ralph Oelke as our class president. We were so proud of our lovely homecoming queen, Angie Vetrano. What did it matter to us if we lost our homecoming game? A mere detail! Remember the unusually long junior class play Our Hearts Were Young and Gay ? Weren't Lois Ziebell, Elaine Dugan, and .their safety pockets funny? They certainly had their troubles. The highlight of our high school career, the Junior Prom, was really something to remember. With Blue Hawaii as the theme, King Jerry Bowe and Queen Fran Sajdak led the grand march in regal splendor. We'll all remember the palm trees and other decorations we worked so hard on. Finally we had arrived. Our senior year—1950—and we got to sit downstairs for assemblies! Neil Szabrowicz was elected senior class president and Ralph Hingiss president of the Student Council. Margie Kreier was elected Homecoming Queen. Dick Cheke, Mel Zemplinski, and Bob Nessler made the all-suburban football team. On November I, the school seemed to be invaded with kiddies . Why? Pigtail Day of course, and didn't Jeanne Drexler and Bill Vatter make a cute King and Queen? One Mad Night , our senior class play certainly had well-suited characters, and we do mean Ken Lanke and Charlie Miller. Gypsy Tea Room was the theme of the Hop. Queen Lorraine Kroll chose Bob Nessler as her king. And ... last but not least... all the last days of school. The senior banquet, senior day and the senior assembly found us looking back over our high school days with fond memories. Once more we found our knees knocking as we went forward to receive our hard-earned diplomas. We leave Cudahy High School in body, yes, but not in mind. All our wonderful memories of our high school days will remain forever among our most cherished memories. is 20 MISS SWETT IIA ROW I: E. Bainer, S. Bishop, B. Buschauer, J. Delbovo, J. Croft, A. Girls in bonbon colored dresses and their escorts danced dream- ily to the sweet strains of Richard Kent's music. For the 1950 Junior Prom the gym was transformed into wonderful Candy Lane.” I I JUNIOR PROM A tropical moon, a sleepy lagoon, and two hearts in tune; The Junior Prom with its appropriate theme, Blue Hawaii was held May 20, 1949. Queen Fran Sajdak and king Gerald Bowe and many others danced dreamily to the soft strains of Richard Kents’ orchestra. Yes, the time seemed to go all too quickly as happy prom-goers reluctantly left the magical paradise of Blue Hawaii. 36 ■ 1950 King Bob Nessler and Queen Lorraine Kroll ; hop 1950 SENIOR MOP The gym took on the atmosphere of a Gypsy Tea Room. In a quaint caravan, there's a lady they call the Gypsy. She can look in the future and drive away all your fears . . Although not a real Gypsy, the fortune teller at the Senior Hop delighted King Robert Nessler and Queen Lorraine Kroll and all their loyal subjects with her forcasts. PLAYS JUNIOR CLASS PLAY The Junior Class Play, A Little Honey,” took place May 3rd ■ 4th. The Minton family was trying to get Diana [Betty Buschauer] who was interested in cars and the stock market, married to Tom Corning [Tony Kisleyl. Each member of the family used a different approach with very little success. Little sister Scoots [Iris Dronsoj provided many hilarious moments with her frogs and dogs. As the last act neared the end, Diana found that Tom was more interesting than either cars or the stock market, so he proposed and they lived happily ever after. SENIOR CLASS PLAY Thrills and Chills” might have appropriately been the name of the Senior Class Play, One Mad Night.” Mr. Dan Cutter,a playwrite portrayed by Ralph Hingiss, came to the Cutter mansion with an idea of having peace and quiet, but his composure was severly interrupted by a group of lunatics, who caused him no end of trouble. Charles Miller in his portrayal of Mr. Hyde had the aud- ence in suspense every minute that he was on the stage. [ [ [ [ I [ t FOOTBALL FOOTBALL Once again this season the Cudahy High Football team lined up to their reputation as the Giant Killers.” Starting off their season comparatively slowly fighting to a tie with Nathan Hale, they again got in the band wagon and began riding for the top. Taking game after game, our hopes of championship kindled from a spark to a flame. Then disaster struck in the form of West Milwaukee. Either we were off or they were play- ing over their heads, but whatever the cause, they beat us in the surprise upset of the season. After that game we dug in harder and beat both Wauwatosa and Whitefish Bay, the two other title contenders. With the heart breaking defeat by West Milwaukee our hopes of championship were de- stroyed, and at the end of the season Whitefish Bay in first and Cudahy second place. Although we had hoped for first this season, at least we can feel sure that next season we have a good chance for the fitting word champs. ALL SUBURBAN w R. Cheke M. Zemplinski R. The girls of the cast wrote, directed, and produced their own ballet called Neptunes Kingdom, with the help of Miss Janet Holada. It took one down into the court of gayly colored sea-weed and a pearl throne upon which they placed a royal King. To the strains of Sleepy Lagoon, Deep Purple, and Indian Love Call, the graceful swim- mers left us in an en- chanted wodd. M7 GIRLS’ SPORTS ' • v- v S V ft ' -v V ?
