The highlighl' of +he season was a double vic- 'rory over San Jose, knocking +ha+ 'ream ou+ of championship conlenfion. These +wo vic+ories were +he only fwo for Cub- berley in B league compe+i+ion. Jim Kennon, brofher of varsily player Leroy Kennon, showed occasional flashes of brilliance and may be a 'laclor in help- ing lhe varsi'ly,+o raise +hemselves nex+ year. Hope for nex+ year's B leam will de- pend largely on 'lhe incoming sophomore class. Players lhis year +ha+ have a chance of re+urning are Chenin Tana, Daniel Vaughan, Mike Fleishman, and Pal Sellars. The season's record bears fhis ouf, as +he Cougar grapplers were able +o win only one of nine marches. Yer, individually, Cubberly showed +wo SPAL champs, and one novice champion. Team cap+ain Dick Wen+z won fhe I54 pound novice championship early in fhe season, and was eliminafed from fhe SPAL finals mainly because of a scorer's error. Juniors Ed Valencia and Jim Bishop swep+ 'lo SPAL championships, being undefealed in all fheir league marches. Each wenf +o fhe dis+ric+ championships before being eliminared. Only seniors on 'rhe squad were Wenrz, Jordan Kinlcead, Alan Wenzel, Jack Porrer, and Yas Tana. Nexr year should be a much more producrive one for rhe Cougar wres+ling leam, especially if Coach Len Dosfer can come up wifh some sfrong wresflers af fhe ligh+er weighrs.
