DEDICATION With great respect and admiration we, the Annual Staff of the 1963 Ram, dedicate this, our Eleventh Issue, to a member of our faculty who has been with us for three years, during the course of which he has earned the respect and devotion of each and every one of the students here at Cuba High: Mr. Manuel Richard Munoz, our Industrial Arts Instructor. Thank you for your Guidance, Mr. Munoz. Thank you for your Kindness and Understanding. The Cuba Schools are growing; not only in size, but also in service. The most im- portant service that a school district offers to the community and to the students is educational service. A fully approved pro- gram of instruction is the highest educa- tional service that can be offered. Adequate instructional service includes an opportunity for every boy and girl to prepare for college if he or she wishes to do so. But it includes much more than this. It must include educationfor those who do not plan to take formal education beyond high school. Students and parents should carefully read the Handbook issued October 22. It describes some of our ideals. It offers a plan whereby the School Board, the Ad- ministration, and the Faculty can further expand our educational service to the boys and girls. It offers a plan whereby we can continue to grow in service. E.D. Shepherd It is a great satisfaction to work with and for such a wonderful student body, fac- ulty and community. I know that we are at- tempting and to a good degree, succeeding in developing fine citizens who will be an asset to our community, state and nation when they have completed their courses here and are ready to enter their respective fields of industry. I am very happy to see our three cul- tures; Indian, Spanish and Anglo, with a common educational background whereby we can all benefit from each others cus- toms and traditions. In grateful appreciation of all who make this annual possible, may I say I thank you. T. B. Shaw BOARD OF EDUCATION Ruben Cordova (Pres. ) Walter Hernandez (V.P.) Florentine Padilla (Sec.) W. P. We were bound and determined not to let the Seniors control us, but that was better said than done. We were initiated, we painted the C and after all that work we were honored with a party. After that week of ex- citement we elected officers: Arnold-President; Joe-Vice President; Ce- cilia-Secretary; Leonard-Treasurer. We had to raise money to sponsor the Christmas dance, and to nnake our Homecoming float which was Blast ' em Rams. That was our first year at Cuba High. Our Sophomore year was a drag as it is for everyone. You don t feel important, and you aren ' t included in some of the activities. But even so we had to make aHomecoming float which was Ram ' em Rams, we got 2nd place that year which raised our spirits a little. We really looked forward to our Junior year. We sure were important then; having to sponsor the Prom. We started off by electing officers: Conrad-President; Richard-Vice President; Hazel A-Secretary Trea- surer. Our next goal was our float, this year we choose Beat ' em Rams. We captured 1st place. After that our only worry was the Prom. We had a marvelous time raising inoney. Concessions, raffles, parties and movies, then the big week came. Our Theme was These Precious Moments. It was a very successful Prom. Seniors at last, the year we had been looking forward to. The first week was just like another week, but when we started planning initiation we really began living. Initiation, parties, movies, and weiner-roasts; and then sneak day. That is a day we will never forget. And finally our Sen- ior trip, we have memories of that day that will linger with us forever. The most important is our Graduation, getting our diplomas, a feel- ing of successfulness. Nowthat we have reached this goal we will try to reach a higher one. Our High School years will always be a wonderful memory to all of us. The Editor Carol Atencio CLASS PROPHECY LILLIAN ANTONIO Long Hair is her Pet Love.
