All four years its class queen was elected Homecoming Queeng it had the same class president all four yearsg and it was one of the most financially successful classes from Cuba High. Q During their freshman year, with Mrs. Vander Hamm as their advisor, the class members began their tenure in high school by standing together and electing their class queen, Carol Miller, Homecoming Queen. As sophomores with Mr. Don Ferchau as class advisor, they gained the reputation of being money hungry. A jitney supper and a successful carnival were two of their fund-raising projects. Their sophomore class queen, Pat Conley, was elected Home- coming Queen. The junior year was a very busy one. The class began by election of their junior class queen, Lucille Crick, Homecoming Queen. They produced their first class play Home Sweet Homicide. To raise money, the class members operated the football concession, sold candy, held food sales, and promoted a highly athletic extravaganza, The Cuba Teachers Versus the Texas Cowgirls. Most critics agreed that the 1958 junior-Senior Prom with its theme Candy1and was one of the finest in the history of the school. The junior year closed on a sad note as the class members had to bid fare- well to their class advisor, Mr. Ferchau, who left Cuba to accept another position. In their final year, the seniors elected their class queen, Carolyn Fidler, Home- coming Queen, thus establishing a perfect record in this department. They then con- centrated on planning and raising funds for the senior class trip and most important, graduating.
