After football season you could hear in every part of the building, music coming from our band room. We were practicing for concerts, festival and contests. We gave a short contest at the Christmas program and were invited to Knoxville and other schools in this vic- inity to play concerts. Knoxville band came and played a concert for an assembly program which the Cuba High band sponsored. Everyone enjoyed it very much because they played popular numbers, overatures and marches. The one that set everyone afire was the last one, one of Glenn Miller's numbers. We played lively marches at allames which pepped up the spirit of the boys who brought home many vic- tories to our school. Our band proved to be one of the best in the Fulton County Band Festival in the A lice Ingersoll Gym at Can- ton and also at the district band contest at Avon on April second. We had many solos and emsembles participating in the contests in March. The high school band members appreciate the work and interest given us by our director, Walter Brashear. - - Gladys Reneau This page is sponsored by: BECKNER'S STANDARD SERVICE STATION - Canton -49- FORREST O.
