McKelvey, Treas. 18 Q HH' 1q+5 1 1145 I +7 CLASS HISTORY September 1946 ushered in the fourth and fmal year of the Class of 1947 It was a mad scramble as all twenty eight sought our places in Room 50 eager to assume our rights as the dignified Seniors of C C S The first official step was the election of the class officers President Wendell Perry Vice President Walter Gui d Secretary Patricia Lewis Treasurer Phyllis Mc Kelvey Dreams of the Washington trip spurred every Semor to lend a helping h d to raise the required number of sheckles Round and square dances, plays movies and formal dances all sent money trickllng into the treasury, each com bringing us closer to our goal Twenty one Seniors were frantically biting their fmger nails and trying to ap ply make up to their excited countenances on the momentous night of November At 8 15 P M the curtain rose on the first act of fame a recent Broad way hit Th1s colossal performance was a result of many hard weeks of diligent ractice under the direction of Miss Jane Wright To commemorate our last sta a igh school dramatics, we polished off the event with steaks at the Castle in Olean With the remains of make up still on our faces, we immediately began plann n f r the climax of the Christmas season the Christmas Ball The efforts of the de coratmg committee to transform the gym into a beautiful ball room were not in vain We all had a marvelous time with mlstle toe adding to the excitement Next we decided to test our cooking abilities The long to be remembered dm ner served to the Cuba Kiwanis Club offered a perfect opportunity The girls emo rown as our chief cook and bottle washer Financially it was a success and we were one step nearer to our goal March was ushered m with plenty of snow and brought to many a week s vaca tion Not for us though for we sacrificed our days off to work on the third edx 1on o he yearbook The Gargoyle The climax of our high school care the Washington trip! On mxdmgh o ursday April 3rd Mrs Brown Mr Williams and Thirty four excited Seniors ladened with suitcases bedecked with their finest feathers, tumbled mto the bus and off for a gala hectic and most exciting week and what a week!!! It was a trip long to be remembered It was hard to settle down once again in the old halls of C C S for there was nothmg ahead but study and grmd in preparation for our june exams The only break came with the annual Junior Semor banquet sponsored by the junior Class was held May 21st at Moonwlnks The greatest dream of every Semor graduation! Four years how quickly the have passed B sy with studies and activities, we have made much progress until now we are ready to face the future and to take our place in the world of tomorrow What does it hold for us? We have given our share of athletes and leaders Many of us will attend co lege while others may stay and give their talents to our hometown Come what may memories of our high school days will linger long in our mmds is with deep appreciation to our principal the faculty and to our advisors that we wi h to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for making these last four years the happiest of our lives .I . : I , ' I .
