S ' I , Q 5' I t ., . O PROPHECY Dear Joe, Last week I wrote you that I was going to spend a few weeks in Black Creek to recover from the ordeals of my sophomore year at college En route, I passed through that thriving little town of Cuba, New York Recalling that CD13 village had been the scene of my high school days, I was eager with the anticipation of encountering some of my former school chums once again I remembered our old favorite meeting place, the Candy Kitchen and so headed myself in that directlon Arriving in the heart of the little Metropolis, I was astonished to dlscover our old hangout completely transformed' Frilly curtains adorned the windows which bore the name nToots1e Tea S oppe Breathless with curiosity I wasted no time entering, and whom did I meet but Joyce and illie After a fond reception, they explained that they were the new proprietors and ushered me to a table in a quiet corner Over a cup of tea, hillie, Joyce and I had great fun talking about what goes on at present with the old gang we knew in I know you'll be anxlous to hear about them, too, so here goes It seems Larry Loveridge, president of Cuba National Bank, has just p oclaimed a Bank Holiday while he is fishing for green backs at Dollar Lake Bob Clapp is teaching sci ence under Principal Abbott T e Basketball team, with the capable coaching of nDoc Scutt as just won the title of nhorld Champs Since Professor Abbott has taken over the school it has reached the very acme of success Fe claims it's due to his Hall menu faculty Gene Ash is now sole owner of the Cuba Theater You can imagine my surprise when I noticed that the feature now playing stars our own King of Swoon with the Swan Throat Gal lagher and Veronlca Longwell Joyce says the cartoon being shown with it is 'Adventures of And there's still more' Rose Mullin, according to Willie, is now president of Market Basket, Inc Her specialty, Mullin's Musty Mushrooms, are on sale everywhere They say the Kinney House, now owned and operated by Fred Hoffman, is the frequent scene of the ar rivals of such celebritles as Katie Conklin, heiress to the Conklin Candy VHCCOPLBS, June Crawford, the actress, and Lois Chamberlaln, who plays the mother in Andy Hardy pictures They keep Bell hop Paul Jones and the cute little Jerk behind the Milk Bar Elaine McVey, on the run The Kinney House Fashion Salon is featuring Lionel Curtis and his chlef de signers, Lucille Beebe and Marion Joseph The craze of the moment, so Jovce says, lS a Beret by Beebe, to be worn with Joseph's Jilted Jacket Mary Stubbs is Working for them, too She's in charge of the models Remember Jean Brown? She's devoting her enti e tlme to her new position as Circulation Manager for the Curtls Publishing Company which has Just opened a branch office in Cuba Joyce says Jean is really a career girl June and Tommy came in while we were chatting They were much excited bedause Helen Hall, the local philanthropist, had nearly met wlth a serlous accident She was saved only by the quick thinking of the head nurse of Cuba Memorial Hospital Mary Midey no less Can you believe it? I can't remember when I've had such fun, Joe, as I've had visiting with Joyce and Wlllie It was certainly a grand opportunity to get first hand news of the old crowd why don't you take a run down? That's really an idea, for then we can call on all these illus trious celebrities and say, ' remember when you were jus a pa o m ne n sincerely 7 h H. l , . 'Ili' n 1 c. c. s.
