Varsity Cheerleaders Our cheerleaders, sponsored by Miss McCellan and Miss Fessler, try hard to promote school spirit. They practice often and put in long hours to help support the teams. At pep rallies they enthusiastically lead cheers while the students actively participate. New cheers are learned every year. Cheerleaders go out and sell ads for football pro- grams to raise money for the team and paint banners to boast Pirate Pride. In addition to all this, our cheerleaders find time to keep up their grades, which must be C or above. We can be proud of our cheerleaders when they represent us at away games. They are school pride across the miles and express friendship toward oppos- ing cheerleaders. Our cheerleaders work hard to improve school spirit throughout the school and encourage our team to do their best. J- ' i , . 2 4 ' 1- if ' , - . Q 1 ,. 1 f - ,, 5 1 V 5 A fe' - A -.f as 9. Varsit Football Who ever the man was who said Winning isn't everything obviously never played football. For if he had then his statement would most likely have sounded something like this. you can't always win but you can always try. We may not have always won this year but we always tried. From late summer to early winter and all the long autumn afternoons in between our Var- sity football team worked and practied, trying to overcome the multitudes of injuries that seemed to spring up almost constantly and to beach the jinx that plagued them all season long. Perhaps the only bright spot in season that was Get in there and 3 as mostly dark was our defense. Almost always forced to contend with bigger and stronger opponents what they lacked in size they made up for in stubborn determination. A It takes two to tango! It was right here a minute ago.
