Miss Steere at the time of her death was the secretary of the Crystal School Board. Crystal had an exceptionally fine year finishing with an 18-4 record. Chuck Sanders was high scorer for the M.C.A.A. with 195 points in league play. Jack Brewer was high with 64 free throws. Crystal won three trophies a consolation at the Portland tournament, a district at Greenville, and a regional at Grand Rapids, the farthest Crystal has gone in twenty years. TRACK Last year Crystal had many successful triangular rneem with surrounding schools, and placed high in the coxmty and Central Michigan relays. Three boys went to State and each took honors. Tom Sanders placed in a three-way tie for third in pole vaulting. Tom Hoag took first place in pole vaulting with the height of 11'3 , and Chuck Sanders, with a jump of 5'8 , placed in a two-way tie for first in high jump. The team finished ninth in the state.
