' 54 FOOTBALL REVIEW Sept. 17--Crystal City 6-Eagle Pass 18 Eagle Pass had a seasoned team of nearly all veterans and had a game already under their belt. Stuart Pullen The Javelins o pe ne d their season this year with 'the Ea gle Pass Eagles. The score at the half was in favor of Eagle Pass. The second half belonged to us but we only scored six points. When the game ended, the Eagles were ahead 18 to 6. Howard Chapman Sept. 24--Crystal City 13-Uvalde 34 We outplayed them in yards rushing and in penetrations, but their fast boys were too shifty. Herman Acosta When we played Uvalde they caught us asleep too many time s, and other than the score, I think that it was a good game. Harold King Oct. 1--Crystal City 6-Edgewood 6 Edgewood was next and we expected to stomp them. However,we found thatthey had eleven good men on the field ju st like the Javelins and the battle ended in a 6 to 6 tie. Charles Reed I think all the boys thought that we would have an easy time of it. We had everything but that. Darrell Bailey Oct. 8--C rystal City 13-Poteet 7 This was Crystal's first victory. Everyone was happy after this game. Gerald Hale We beat Poteet thirteen to seven. I think that we out- classed them all the way. Jack Hopkins Oct. 15--Crystal City IZ-Pearsall 26 This bunch always has a football team. Burrell Day Pearsall came over here for revenge over last years' 7 to 6 win. They surely put it over too, winning Z6-l2Z. Donald Turk Oct. ZZ--Crystal City 18-Hondo 41 Hondo came next. They came down here with a fairly good record and favored to win the district. Joe Cuevas Oct. 29--Crystal City I4-Brackettville 7 The people at Brackett said they were going to beat us but we knew better. The score at the end of the game was 14 to 7. Howard Chapman Before we played the Tigers, we knew they had a good boy. We found out they were all good. Tommy Avila Nov. 5--Crystal City 19-Cotulla 19 T he y outplayed us for three quarters, but we made a comeback in the fourth making the game end in a tie. Ralph Salinas Nov. IZ--Crystal City 7-San Felipe 13 The San Felipe game was a good hard game. It was not as rough as I expected it to beg nevertheless they beat us. Wendel Condry Nov. 19--Crystal City 6-Carrizo Springs Z6 The g ame with Carrizo wa s a heartbreaker. Jean Peters Then came that fateful day. The team went to the Wild- cats' lair and were eaten up by them. Bart Wagner There is an old saying that goes like this, 'When you win, everybody pla ys with you, but when you lose, you lose by yourselfl It made us players feel good to see this state- ment proven false, our entire student body stayed with us win, lose, or draw.
