LOSING STREAK IS BROKEN Perhaps the way to describe the highlight of the football season can best be done by Brent Vaughn’s ’’Most Memorable Event of 1981.” My most memorable moment was the Crystal vs. Herky football game. In this game we shed the loser” image. After leading throughout the entire game we dropped behind 21-39. With a little over 2 minutes left in the game we got in the huddle and said This is it.” We drove 80 yards in 3 plays with Pat Linderer taking it in from 3 yards out to win 2501. This is the most memorable moment for me because of what happened after the game. When the clock ran out. the field filled with our” fans! The fans that didn’t believe in us anymore finally knew we could win. You had to be in this situation to know what I mean. Anybody there will tell you that the ”bus scene”afterwards was fantastic. So I would like to thank the fans of our football team this year for my most memorable moment. Overall, the team's record was 3-5. Their wins were over Herculaneum, St. Pius, and DeSoto. In conference they were fourth. Next year the team loses their quarterback, Brent Vaughn, and their receiver, Alan Caldwell. But they have gained the Tri-Captain ! Darryl Jackson. Randy Rhyneer. Brent Vaughn confidence that makes them losers no more. Row One: Pat Kinder, Tim Almany. Brett Eggemeyer. Richie Cook, Robbie Rainwater, Pat Linderer. Dwayne Labruyere. Robbie Bradshaw. Butch Patterson. Joe Kincaid. Steve Smetzer. Row Two: Coach Mill . Dan Riney. John Holdinghausen. Kenny Bradley. Tim Morris. Brent Vaughn. Randy Rhyneer. Scott Wagner. Alan Caldwell. Brad Howard. Dale Eggemeyer. Row Three: Coach Cook. Greg McCreary. Jeff Madsen. John Lucas. Chri Bequette. Scott Colliner. Darryl Jackson. Jim Almany. 24
