We will never see four years such as the time we spend between the topsy-turvy walls of CCHS. Truly they are unique to us, but we must realize that we are not unique to them. Because whenever we leave our places empty, there will be others who will fill those places just as we filled the places of those before us. For an instant, though, they were empty, and we had headed out into the world alone.

When the last embers of our bonfire youth have turned to cold ashes of age, what will we remember of our days at Crystal City High School? Today we concern ourselves with the immediate pressures of the student ... tests, dating, figuring out how to skip without getting caught .. . but by the time that golden tomorrow dawns, these everyday happenings will have been stored in that crevice of the mind where things we thought we'd never forget have gone to be forgotten. We will have images of a homecoming fire, of sunny afternoons when wc just couldn’t keep our minds on what we were doing, of that person ahead of us walking across the stage to receive his diploma ... but mainly our experiences will be lumped together under the memory heading High School , only to be separated by the occasional, “Remember when we used to ... ?”

The Class of 1970 proudly dedicates its yearbook to Mr. Lynus Stevenson. In doing so, we hope to express our appreciation to a man who has taught us more than just algebra, trigonometry, or physics. We want to thank you, Mr. Stevenson, for your many years of service to Crystal City High School, years in which you gave class after class insights into the world of mathematics, from the precision of a parabola to the confusion of your own desk. The work was hard, and many of us weren’t able to make it through as welt as we might have hoped, but afterwards we realized that by making the work hard you had taught us a little bit about life itself. Mr. Stevenson, we are better people because you have touched our lives. We pray that the future will be rewarding and satisfying for you.
