Superintendent. BOARD of EDUCATION Acting within the framework of state law, it is the duty of the Board of Education to see that schools are operated in the school district. The members of the Board are elected by the people for three year terms and serve without pay. The Board of Education selects the superintendent, and with his help selects the teachers. The Board decides the amount of money to be spent for salaries of teachers and for other school expenses. Individual board members exercise their authority only when the board is actually in session and not individually outside of a meeting. The Board constantly considers the needs of the schools and how to improve them. Much of the continued progress of Crystal’s schools is due to the high type of men who have served on it.
