Miss Ma.ry Lee Schulte, Secretary, Mr. Zeno Fults, Mr. Robert M. Brasket, Mr. Earl Glasgow, Mr. Gentry Politte, Mr. Harry S. Drury, Jr., Vice-President, Mr. H. H. Hanna, President, Mr. David P. Max, Superintendent. BOARD OF EDUCATION Acting within the framework of state law, it is the duty of the Board of Education to see that schools are operated in the school district. The members of the Board are elected by the people for three year terms and serve without PaY- The Board of Education selects the superintendent, and with his help selects the teachers. The Board decides the amount of money to be spent for salaries of teachers and for all other school expenses. The Board may levy a tax rate of 51.00 on the 5100.00 assessed valuation of the property in the district to secure funds to operate the schools. If a higher tax rate is needed, the Board must ask the voters to approve an additional tax rate. The Board constantly considers the needs of the schools and how to improve them. Much of the continued progress of Crystal's schools is due to the high type of men who have served on its Board of Education. 3
