This is the best record in the history of the school. With one or two more victories over major opponents the Mountaineers could have easily been in play-off for the Class B Championship. The Mountaineers lost seven very important men from their fine eleven this year. Six of these are leaving by graduation and one because of the age limit. The six seniors are Don Damron, Arvel Marcum, Jim Messer, Freelan White, Andrew White, and Verland Perry. Eugene Justice has two more years of school but, he will be forced to quit football because of his age. These boys have been great competitors, loyal teammates and clean participants in the great game of football. Most of them are small in size but they overcame this with a lot of determination and personal sacrifice. Two of the Seniors distinguished themselves by being placed on the Williamson Dail News all Area Y team. Jimmy Messer, a fine defensive tackle, made the first team, all teamg and Don Damron, the little speed merchant, was placed on the second team as a halfback. Courtesy of J. H. PITCOCK Messer became the first player to ever gain state wide recognition by making the Class B all state second team. Damron gained an honorable mention both on the all state Class B team and also on the All Southern, West Virginia Team which includes class AA, A and B Schools. These boys deserve much credit for their achievement. The team, coach, faculty and students wish them well in the future. To the other boys on the team we can only say we think you did an excellent job. You make every effort to bring honor to your school. We hope the spirit and determination you have shown will live for- ever in the heart of every Crum High Athlete. In the closing l would like to say this: Wherever you go or whatever you do, remember you represent The Gold and Blue . Wherever you go we will be there too, because Mountaineers, We are Proud of You. Coach Murphy xx.. an 5 ., ,gtg w4,,Ou-' '3 A-di.
